This summer, we are thrilled to be pairing up with The Seed Guelph to raise funds and spread awareness of their work in our community. The Seed is an award-winning project of the Guelph Community Health Centre. They are made up of hundreds of community members, partner organizations, volunteers and donors with a single goal: become the first community in Canada where everyone has access to good food.
With over 20,000 people in Guelph and Wellington County who cannot afford healthy food, The Seed is working to eradicate food insecurity by:
- Delivering food programs that build food literacy and increase access to good food.
- Operating social enterprises that increase good food access, train and employ youth, and generate revenue that is re-invested in achieving their Mission/Vision.
- Working with community members and partner organizations to make good things happen.
- Advocating for systems-change and effective food policies.
Their most recent initiative is Groceries from The SEED, the first pay-what-you-choose online grocery store and delivery service in Canada. The store started in April 2021 and has 1050 members already. They are looking for more members of all incomes to sign up now, and start grocery shopping with a purpose! This Pale Ale is alluringly hazy with notes of bread dough, lemon, orange, melon, and herbs. The flavour is bright and fun, with a zip of citrus and a playful herbaceousness!
