Position: Event Coordinator

Royal City Brewing is hiring a full-time events coordinator. Would you like to be a key part of our Guelph brewery as we expand our hospitality capabilities? Are you excited to work in a small, energetic, locally-focused business? Are you a hands-on type person with excellent attention to detail? We are looking for a full-time addition to our team to coordinate and execute private rentals in our event space, The Ward Room & Beer Hall. Our ideal candidate will be: outgoing and friendly, passionate about beer, organized and with flair, and an eye for design. Work will be onsite at Royal City Brewing, and will involve evening and weekend shifts.

 This will be an hourly position working between 30-40 hours per week. 

Rate of Pay will start at $23 per hour.

This position is eligible for benefits after a three-month probationary period has passed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize and run events from intimate private dinners up to 150 person weddings.
  • Communicate with clients to book & schedule private event rentals at onsite.
  • Work with the front of house team to execute scheduled events.
  • Participate in planning and set up of overall events schedule at Royal City
  • Meet with clients to facilitate and understand their event specific needs
  • Supervise set up and tear downs of event spaces
  • Liaise with kitchen and front of house staff for set up and execution of events
  • Point person during events to ensure a great customer experience
  • Assist with larger annual brewery events such as Oktoberfest and our winter Lagerfest
  • Help Serve as needed at events
  • Inventory or organizational duties at the direction of the FOH Manager and or GM
  • Develop and implement smaller, scheduled weekly events for both the Ward Room or Beer Hall ie: trivia nights, book clubs, etc. when spaces aren’t booked for private events
  • Handle the scheduling for Royal City’s Brewery tour program
  • Carry on all work in a manner that reflects Royal City Brewing’s mission and values

Skills & Job Requirements

  • High level of attentiveness and attention to detail
  • Ontario Smart Serve
  • Experience in set up and serving at banquet or weddings an asset
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule
  • Familiarity with A/V set up an asset
  • Organization & strong ability to set and manage schedules
  • Punctuality and reliability essential

Position: Beer Hall/Events Staff (Part Time/Full Time)

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced servers/bartenders to join our team at Royal City Brewing. As a server in the Beer Hall, you will play a key role in providing exceptional service to our guests while showcasing our delicious beers and culinary offerings. You will also work large events in the Beer Hall and Ward Room, like weddings. Off site events like Farmers Markets and Beer Festivals are also part of the job. If you have a passion for hospitality, a love for craft beer, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and seat guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Present menus and provide detailed information about our beverage selections, food menu items, and specials
  • Take and accurately enter food and beverage orders into the POS system
  • Ensure timely delivery of food and beverages to tables
  • Anticipate guests' needs and respond promptly to requests
  • Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth and efficient service
  • Upsell additional items, including beer to go, seasonal brews, and dessert offerings
  • Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints with tact and professionalism
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including tables, chairs, and condiment stations
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Follow opening and closing procedures as outlined by management

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a server in a restaurant or brewery setting preferred
  • Knowledge of beer styles and brewing process is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Smart Serve certification or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe

Position: Production Assistant - Packaging

Royal City Brewing is hiring a production team member. Would you like to be a key part of our Guelph brewery as it expands? Are you excited to work in a small, energetic, locally-focused business? Are you a hands-on type person with excellent attention to detail? We are looking for a full-time addition to our team to operate our packaging equipment and participate in other production and distribution roles.  

This is an on-site position with no provision for remote work. Our ideal candidate will be  available Monday – Friday during regular business hours, but keen to get the job done should the occasional day run long. Starting pay for this position will be $20 per hour. This position will be  eligible to participate in the company benefits plan after a three month probationary period has passed. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with packaging runs on the brewery’s various equipment 
  • Perform daily equipment cleaning and sanitizing 
  • Operate, troubleshoot and maintain packaging equipment 
  • Track and report packaging activities for inventory purposes 
  • Assist with various warehouse duties including but not limited to stock management & inventory control Maintain workplace in a clean and safe manner as per guidelines 
  • Other various production duties at the direction of the head brewer and management 
  • Carry on all work in a manner that reflects Royal City Brewing’s mission and values

Skills & Requirements:

  •  High level off attentiveness and attention to detail 
  • Punctuality and reliability essential 
  • Driver’s license and clean driving abstract 
  • Prior brewery experience an asset 
  • Forklift experience not necessary but an asset 
  • Flexibility and adaptability – we are a small company and there are lots of different tasks to do
  • Must work well in a team setting 
  • Passion for, and understanding of craft beer 

Training on safe operation of all equipment will be provided. This position is physically demanding and will require the moving and manipulating of full beer kegs, cases of beer and  other beverages and the lifting of grain bags. There will also be protracted periods on your feet  while operating the equipment.

  • Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients
  • Monitor food inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management

Position: Dishwasher (Part Time)

We are currently seeking a reliable and diligent individual to join our team as a part-time dishwasher. As a vital member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Your attention to detail and efficiency will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness that our guests expect.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate industrial dishwashing equipment to wash and sanitize dishes, flatware, pots, pans, and other kitchen items
  • Sort and stack clean dishes, ensuring they are stored appropriately
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dishwashing area and kitchen equipment
  • Assist with general kitchen cleaning tasks as needed
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines at all times
