KITCHEN MANAGER

We've always felt that a nice cold beer deserves great food to go with it. Royal City Brewing is looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee our daily kitchen operations — managing our food service, leading our kitchen team, and helping create an experience our guests will love.

We're looking for someone innovative, passionate about food, experienced in a leadership role, with a love for Guelph and craft beer.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the kitchen team
  • Coordinate work responsibilities of the kitchen
  • Hire and train kitchen employees
  • Oversee schedule of kitchen staff
  • Help oversee daily food operations
  • Manage food inventory, placing food orders as needed
  • Work with staff to minimize food waste
  • Preparing cold food
  • Frying, grilling, and sautéing foods
  • Keeping stations clean and organized
  • Follow and create recipes
  • Maintain excellent hygiene and appearance
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations
  • Lifting heavy pots and equipment
  • Work in a fast-paced environment
  • Other various inventory or organizational duties at the direction of the GM
  • Carry on all work in a manner that reflects Royal City Brewing's mission and values

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or training a plus
  • First aid certification a plus
  • Food handler's certification
  • At least 2 years of experience in a kitchen and restaurant setting
  • Knowledge of a wide range of kitchen equipment
  • Refined palate
  • Leadership skills — managing a team of cooks, teaching line cooks new recipes, and managing kitchen staff
  • Prior restaurant management roles preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be available evenings and weekends
  • Flexibility and adaptability — we are a small company and there can be lots of different tasks to do
  • Passion for, and understanding of, craft beer
